They're so good EGO guarantees them for 3 years.Īnd the best part about having a battery-powered mower? It takes less space to store! Since there are no fluids to leak or engine parts to ruin, you can use the built in handle on the body to tilt it so the mower is resting on the back of the unit, then store it vertically. Even after mowing thick Florida grass every weekend last year during the summer and fall (sometimes twice a week), the batteries for my previous EGO Power+ mower still had their full charge. And don't worry about having to reinvest in batteries each season, EGO batteries are the best I've used. It'll be topped off and ready to go in 30 minutes or less. When you're done, just drop the battery on the rapid charger. There are also no gas fumes, so you don't finish up mowing and feel like you've spent the past hour hanging out at a gas station. It's not silent, but the whir of the blades and the whine of the self-propel motor is quiet enough that I can easily hold a conversation while mowing. One of my favorite things about electric mowers is that they don't produce a bone-rattling thrum when you operate them. No matter when you mow, you won’t bother the neighbors. And there are two LED headlights on the front of the mower for those evening or early morning yard maintenance sessions. There's a handy status LED near the handle. You can adjust the mower's height with a single lever. There are other nice conveniences as well. It's much easier to access and almost impossible to change accidentally (something that often occurred with the previous configuration). The speed lever is now a wheel in the middle of the handle. It's nice for when you have to take a hand off the handle. As long as you're pressing one of them, the mower moves. Instead of a lever on one side that you have to grip, there are two TouchDrive pads on the handle of the mower. The self-propelled system has been reworked for the latest Power+ mower and it's fantastic. They make quick work of whatever you throw at them and leave less of a mess on the inside of the mower deck to clean up later. It's something that you usually only see on professional gas mowers. The two blades are attached on the same axis and work in tandem to give you ultra-fine fragments for bagging or mulching. The multi-cut blade is unique among battery-powered mowers. Even with two weeks of growth on my lawn, soaking wet from an early morning rain shower, there was enough power left to use the same battery to manicure the lawn and blow the clippings off the driveway. That said, I haven’t yet run out the battery while mowing during my testing. Your runtime might be slightly reduced overall, but not having to bother with multiple batteries is worth the few minutes that you might lose. Where their mowers previously relied on two 5.6 Ah batteries, the Power+ 21” Select Cut runs on a single 7.5 Ah lithium battery. The battery is an improvement over previous models. With its multi-blade system, easy self-propel function, and 60+ minute runtime on a single charge, it’s the mower that will have you questioning why anyone even bothers to get a new gas mower. The star of the EGO Power+ line is, of course, the Power+ 21” Select Cut mower.
